Hybrid contracts can now be compared as their own group in the Sähkönhinta.fi service
Improvements to the Sähkönhinta.fi service will make it easier to compare electricity contracts. Consumers can now compare hybrid contracts as their own product group. In addition, business clients have been given the opportunity to compare electricity contract products intended for companies.
In hybrid contracts, the electricity price consists of a basic charge, a fixed kWh price and a consumption impact. The consumption impact is determined monthly on the basis of hourly market-based prices when the customer’s own electricity consumption is highest. In the Sähkonhinta.fi electricity price comparison service, hybrid contracts can now be compared to one another on the basis of their fixed prices. As the service does not ask users for hourly consumption data, the consumption impact will not be taken into account in this comparison. In the past, contracts with a consumption impact have been grouped with fixed-term fixed-price contracts.
The search function for the electricity price comparison service has been redesigned. In the future, consumers can select the pricing model (market-based, hybrid or fixed-price contracts) and the duration of the contract (fixed-term or indefinite contracts). In the future, corporate users will also be able to search specifically for electricity contracts intended for companies. A quick search will still be possible by giving just your postal code and annual consumption estimate.
Different contract types compared
In the future, the contracts within each product group will be comparable with one another, and it will also be possible for the consumer to cross-check different contract types on the same search results page. The ranking of different contract types by price will continue to vary slightly depending on the monthly market-based price, but the cheapest options for each contract type will always be visible.
After the redesign of the service, the electricity contract offers will be transferred to the correct product groups with a delay. The change will take place as electricity providers update their own product information.
The next improvements to the service that are under development include: defining the reference price of market-based contracts on the basis of a longer-term average and a clearer presentation of product information.
Sähkönhinta.fi, the Electricity Price Comparison service maintained by the Energy Authority, contains all valid electricity contract offers by region. Electricity providers are responsible for submitting their electricity product contract types to the service. The Energy Authority monitors the accuracy of the provided information.
