The network operations of Fingrid Oyj and Gasum Oy are cost-effective, shows new benchmarking results.

The benchmarking results shows that Fingrid Oyj’s transmission network operations are cost-effective compared to the sixteen other electricity transmission companies that participated in the electricity transmission study. Fingrid Oyj ranked among the most cost-effective companies with a 100% efficiency ratio.

The study also benchmarked the natural gas transmission system operators cost-efficiency, with a total of 29 companies participating in the comparison. Gasum Oy ranked close to the most efficient companies with a 96.1 percent efficiency ratio.

Council of European Energy Regulators (CEER) has implemented Transmission Cost Benchmarking project 2018 (TCB18) in collaboration with European electricity and gas transmission system operators. The study describes the overall efficiency of the companies' transmission network operations by comparing investment and cost data from several year period. A total of 46 transmission system operators from 16 countries participated in the project, including Fingrid Oyj and Gasum Oy from Finland.

The bulletin is accompanied with general reports on efficiency comparisons of electricity and natural gas transmission system operators as well as a company-specific report of Fingrid. Gasum did not allow to publish the company-specific report.
